congratulations you 2 are the first 2 members of the committee. We will still put it on the notice board as 80% of our members don't use this comments page.

Just on that point Eimear, at the women's class on a Monday night the most of them have said they are put of because it is mostly all men....

I would happy to commit to a monthly meeting or at most a bi monthly meeting. Eimear you have highlighted another opportunity regarding member demographic i.e I would think that our current members consist mostly of competitive young/semi-young males! We should be aware of the possibilities and opportunities we have to communicate to the female market, as well as the younger, 18 and under and of course the older generations as I believe Crossfit has different benefits to each group and more so to each individual of each group. Again it is another option and something to be aware of when putting together a plan.

Well I think judging by Scotts marketing vocabulary he would be a good candidate, I would also like to be on the team as being a female and the females are afraid I would like to comfort women and tell them its not all about the men...check out my biceps ladies lol.

No harm Patrick but just doing what you do doesn't get members in our doors. You yourself crossfit but haven't even called in to the only crossfit gym in the country.

G.I Jane and most other WODS would scare 90% of people away and that's not what we want to do as most people are afraid of crossfit as it is. we are trying to encourage people away from their cozy training sessions and into the world of crossfit no matter what level of fitness they have.

Just do what I do - go to poser gyms, do 100 burpee pullups for time, have everybody's jaws drop, get them to ask you what you're doing, wear the t-shirt, spread the gospel!

Guys This is my first chance to look at the computer today. Im impressed with the ideas you are putting forward.

I think a members Committee would be a great idea and a good way forward, it can be made up of as little as 2 members but 4 or 5 would probably be better.

If you want we will put a box in the gym for people to put forward names for the committee or if 3/5 of you just want to put yourselves forward then feel free.

I have a good feeling that this will help us move forward...

First Step -
Make a Plan, with clear objectives to build awareness of CrossFit, create a Marketing Calendar.
Communicate CrossFit awareness to people outside of Elite400 using any available Media and Elite400 members.
Encourage Trail - through varied incentives.
Regularly review progress and plans.

No Scot well said I vote for you as chairperson. People are scared off by Crossfit I was one of those people at the start cos of word of mouth "its Army training" lol We have a photo of micky when he started CF, thats the kind of cardboard cut out I would like to see instead of something that was photoshopped, real people. If everyone is going to serious about this we need to put our heads together, I know we all have our own things to do after crossfit but setting aside some time wouldnt be a bad idea. Where do we start????

Me too Helen, I would suggest maybe linking in with a local charity, or organisation that is relevant to the CrossFit mentality and to the local community? Something to do with Diabetes Awareness or Obesity etc. There are 6 other Fitness/Gym businesses in the Lurgan/Portadown area, I would suggest the people going to these gyms are the people we should be targeting as they already have an interest in general fitness we need to sell them the benefits of elite fitness.

You could contact the local Portadown Times/Lurgan Mail asking if they could run a competition which could have prizes like a years/6 months/3 months FREE MEMBERSHIP to the gym, this could only be open to non members, Subway could offer a "Golden Ticket", which is a Free 6 Inch "Low Fat" Meal for the rest of the year (our Low Fat range is endorsed by the Heart Research Foundation which would bode well with the paper), sell Limited Edition T-Shirts, (missed an opportunity with St Patrick's Day!!"I survied the Elite400 Paddys Day WOD"). I am sure we could come up with more prizes for a Raffle or competition, there is loads more we could do just to raise cash - Car Wash??

I like the idea of an exhibition as this is a great way to show people that CrossFit isn't as scary as it sounds and is open to anybody at any level of fitness. Education is the key!

Bit of a rant there!! Apologies ....
